Last week students in Grades K-2 attended a fire safety program put on by the Lafayette Fide Department. At school we talk about and practice a fire safety plan monthly. Parents are encouraged to talk with your child(ren) about an emergency safety plan at home too!
October 10-14 is National School Lunch Week! Our cafeteria staff will be serving up totally awesome breakfasts and lunches next week, and will have fun and games planned for students during lunchtime! We are thankful for all they do to help our students be prepared and fed during each day!
Last week 3rd grade wrapped up their PLTW module on the Science of Flight. Students apply the design process to the problem of delivering aid to an area where supplies must be airlifted in and dropped to the ground from an aircraft. As a module wrap up, students tested their design on the high school track!
Last week during CollegeGOWeek our students showed off their future plans by dressing for success in their future careers, and trying out the student versions of future jobs. Here are some of the highlights!
One of the many great things about CES is our tight-knit community! Mrs. Hayden is an integral member of the CES team. There are many things that she does for our students and staff, many behind the scenes. She is currently battling breast cancer and our staff has really pulled together to show her how loved she is!
Each year the local Lions Club members, along with a team of professionals and some high school helpers visit to help conduct vision screening for all students in grades 1,3,5 & 8! Many hands and (lots of fancy equipment) make quick work. Thank you Lions Club for your service to our kiddos!
The annual Book Fair is here!! The books fair will run from October 3-11. More information can be found at https://www.scholastic.com/bf/carrollelementaryschool4
This year, in addition to having your child purchase items, you have the opportunity to support student classrooms by contributing to a teacher's "eWallet." Any donations made can be spent by that teacher on items that will be used by the classroom.
We are thankful for the many people who serve and work in our community! We enjoyed having all the emergency services along with local farm machinery reps share about the career and equipment with our kindergartners this week!

We will then show the photos as part of our Veterans Day program on November 11. If you would like to participate, please send a picture along with the veteran's name and branch of service to rhufford@carroll.k12.in.us by November 1.
