Kelly Smith and her 2 high school ceramics classes collaborated with Mrs. Tinsman's kindergarten class for a very unique project recently. The high school classes met with Mrs. Tinsman's class, who had been reading books about monsters. The kids then had an opportunity to create and draw their own monsters. Each kindergartener was then paired up with a high schooler, who listened and learned all about the monster that had been drawn.
The ceramics students then spent the next few weeks using their knowledge of clay building, which they have learned all semester, to make the monster in the round (viewed from all sides). Once the monsters had been fired and glazed, they wrapped them up and headed over to Mrs. Tinsman's class to present them to their kindergartener.
All of the students had a great time creating the monsters as you can see by the joy and excitement on each students face!
Thank you Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Tinsman for creating this opportunity for your students!
