CCSC Snow Makeup Day Procedures
DEFINITIONS:
Snow Makeup Day - A day built into the calendar to allow for in-person learning to make
up for a day of education due to a school closure.
Virtual Learning Day - A day used to continue education at home when there is a school
closure. A Virtual Learning Day will involve a virtual meeting between students and
teachers through Google Meets.
eLearning Day - A day used to continue education at home when there is a school
closure. When an eLearning day is assigned, there is not an expectation for students
and teachers to participate in Google Meets. Assignments will be posted for students.
Teachers will be available via email for questions.
PROCEDURES*:
1) Three snow makeup days have been built into the school calendar to be used if
needed. As a general rule of thumb, days missed due to inclement weather or
other unforeseen closures will be made up first on these days.
2) If all built in snow makeup days are scheduled, then virtual learning days will be
utilized next.
3) If the school corporation implements three consecutive virtual days, and the
school must be closed for a fourth consecutive day, then the Superintendent may
call an eLearning day to allow for students and teachers to catch up on previous
assignments.
4) If school must be closed for a fifth consecutive day or longer, then the
Superintendent will evaluate conditions to determine if Virtual Learning will
proceed or if snow makeup days will be added to the end of the school year.
*Note: these are general guidelines in the event of school closures. The Administration
may adjust these procedures as circumstances dictate.
